St. Finbar gained notoriety over the years for its innovations in adapting to its multiethnic community, offering Vietnamese-language Masses to a wave of immigrants from Vietnam in 1975. ==Early history== Formed in 1938, the parish built a temporary church in 1940. The current church was built in the early 1950s. In 1945, the elementary school opened under the administration of seven sisters from the Sisters of Providence. By 1952, the enrollment of the school had grown to 670 students.
